Vazhakkai / Plantain Podimas

Seasoning:
Mustard seeds -1tsp
Urad dal - 1 tsp
Channa dal - 1 tsp
Curry leaves - a sprig

Other Ingredients:
Plantains/Vazhakkai - 4
Turmeric powder -1/4 tsp
Sambhar powder - 1/2 tsp
Salt to taste
Green chillies -3
Chopped Ginger - 1 tsp
Grated coconut -1/4 cup
Coriander leaves for garnishing

Method:
  1. Peel the skin and cut into desired cubes.
  2. Cook in water with sambar powder, salt, turmeric.
  3. Cook till plantains are just soft. Don't overcook.
  4. Drain the water and keep it aside.
  5. Heat oil in pan, add seasoning.
  6. Add onion, green chilli, grated ginger and fry till translucent.
  7. Add the cooked plantain, fry for 2 minutes and add grated coconut.
  8. Garnish with coriander leaves.
