Ven Pongal and Moong dal sambar

Seasoning:
Ghee - 2 tsp
Cumin - 1 tsp
Whole Pepper corns - 1/2 tsp
curry leaves - 1 sprig
Grated ginger - 1/2 inch
Cashew nuts - 10

Ingredients:
Rice - 1 cup
Split Moong dal - 1/2 cup
Water - 4 cups
Salt - as per taste

Method:
Heat ghee in the cooker. fry cumin, pepper corns, curry leaves, cashew.
Add ginger, rice, moong dal, water and salt
Leave for 3 whistles.
Pongal is ready to be served.

Vengaya Sambar Recipe:

Seasoning:
Oil - 1 teaspoon
Mustard seeds - 1 teaspoon
Curry leaves - few

Ingredients:
Carrot - 1
Beans - 10
Brinjal - 1
Potato - 1
Pearl onion- 10
Tomato - 1
Tamarind water - 1 gooseberry size
Salt - To Taste
Green Chilli - 1
Moon Dal - 1/2 Cup
Sambar Powder - 2 teaspoon
Salt - To taste
Coriander leaves - few

Method:
Cut the veggies and microwave for 10 minutes.
Pressure cook the moong Dal and smash it and keep it aside
Chop the green chilli vertically and add it to the chopped vegetables
Heat the oil in pan, and add mustard seeds, curry leaves.
Add chopped vegetable and fry for a while
Add the tamarind extract and salt
Also add the sambar powder. Keep the flow low-medium.
When the sambar starts to boil add the smashed Dal and stir well
Finally garnish with coriander leaves.
